Ancient cultures attributed dazzling abilities to gods and goddesses, and honored selected deities hoping to win favor and power. Eqypt, Greece, Rome, Sumeria, India and more all have histories rich in a variety of deities wielding various capabilities. In Christianity, all power was consolidated into The One God. This spiritually naïve thought supposes that power resides outside of us and must somehow be coerced or earned. Thankfully, as we recognize our Unity with the Universal Intelligence we call Mother Father God, we begin to perceive ourselves as powerful.
